  1. Should Growing Meat be Banned? By: Max McKnight For: Ms. Murray

  2. Do We Need Meat • Do we need to eat meat to survive? Meat is the best way to get your daily protein and iron. Protein helps to build muscles, while iron builds red blood cells that carry oxygen. However with a lack of iron you can get a disease called anemia. But 18% of greenhouse gases are caused by animal waste. So the question is if we want to have a sustainable lifestyle, do we need to all turn vegetarian?

  3. Good Ideas • Good – Source of Protein and iron – protein builds muscles and iron builds red blood cells( carry oxygen) – lack of iron causes anemia • Economic beinfit – list 4; • Cons – Greenhouse gas production and aniamls – fuel for the machinery – aniamls fead wheet, hay, corn only 10% of enery goes into meat cells – to increase population does everyone need to be veggie?

  4. A Con of Growing Meat • The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) estimates that 18% of global warming is caused by growing animals’ for meat and dairy.

  5. My Opinion on These Facts • The fact that animal waste accounts for almost a quarter of greenhouse gases causing global warming is very startling. When I see a statistic like that I get very worried because as a person who likes meat, this is a very scary consequence for enjoying my favourite type of food. And I am even more worried that the percentage of greenhouse gases from animal waste will only increase, if we do not figure out away to cut back on our emissions.

  6. My Opinion on Cow Methane Burps • It only takes 10 cows to power a small home for an entire year, that should tell you how much gas comes from their burps. One cow releases 100 million tons of hydrocarbon every year. As much as I like cows this a hard fact to live with seeing that it will not effect them nearly as much as it will us.

  7. The Cons of Growing Meat • Some of the chemicals that put into these animals to make them fatter or taste better may cause health problems later on in life. • The amount of work that goes into growing these animals' ends up being more expensive then to just to farm them normally.

  8. Another Pro of Growing Meat • Meat offers us so much protein and iron. It is the best way to get them. Protein and iron are very important nutreints. Without iron you can get anemia and without protein you it would be very hard to get any muscle.

  9. A Pro of Growing Meat • Swedish meat production emits significantly less harmful greenhouse gases then their international counterparts.

  10. My Opinion on This Fact • I can only hope that the meat producers of Sweden can share with the rest of the world their ways of development. If the earth can benefit from our meat being grown in labs then we ought to give it some consideration. Given the fact that 18% of our greenhouse emissions are from animal waste.
