The School of Computing & Information Systems Hubei University of Technology & University of Tasmania 2+2+1 dual-degree program Students complete the first 2 years in China Sub major: Computer Science & Technology, Software Engineering & Network Engineering. Students complete the final 2 years of a UTAS Bachelor of Computing in Tasmania Majors/minors: information on the following slides Upon successful completion of 4 years of study, student will receive a HUT Bachelor’s degree and a UTAS Bachelor’s degree. Students that successfully complete the 4-year dual degree program can study a 1 year MIT or a 1.5 – 2 year MComp.

Employment Opportunities • Current forecasts predict that there will be a worldwide shortage of IT professionals for at least the next 10 years. • Range of careers include: • Website Management, System Administration, Client Support and Training, Program Design, Development and Testing, Mobile Computing and Telecommunications, Graphics, Internet and Web Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and so on. • Starting Salaries • The starting salaries in IT positions in Australia should be approximately • AUD $40,000+ (approx 240,000RMB - based on exchange rate of 6:1)

Facilities • Undergraduate students work in state-of-the-art laboratories using Unix computers, Apple Macintosh and IBM Windows PCs. • Wireless networking is provided for student-owned laptops • School facilities and resources are available to students twenty four hours per day, seven days per week. • Computing equipment upgraded approximately once every 3 years

Scholarships • Largest scholarship scheme in Australia • 1 in every 6 international students has a scholarship • Based on results in previous studies and awarded at time of offer • 25% reduction in fees for every year of your degree (must pass all subjects) • No limit on how many scholarships offered

  40. Cost of Living for 1 year in Tasmania • Living costs between $10,000-$13,000 per year, in Australian dollars. • This includes accommodation, transport, books, electricity, telephone, personal spending • Tasmania has amongst the lowest living costs of any state of Australia
