Community Colleges • Over 100 campuses across California • $46 per unit • Cerritos College Assessment test here at CHS in the library • Assessment Orientation: January 25, 2013 from 3-4pm • Assessment Testing: Feb 20, 2013 from 1-4pm • All other community colleges, start fall application on/after March 1, 2013

  3. California State University • 23 campuses across California • Use CSU Mentor • Eligibility Index: GPA plus SAT/ACT Score • Meet A-G requirements: • Minimum Math: Pass Algebra II or Integrated III with a “C” or better • Pass Bio and Chem with a “C” or better

  4. CSU Eligibility Index Once you WEIGHTED GPA, you can use this formula to see if your grade point average and test scores meet the minimum required eligibility index. The SAT score component for CSU is the sum of the mathematics and critical reading scores. (Neither ACT nor SAT writing scores are included in the calculation of the CSU Eligibility Index.) SAT Scores: (Your GPA ) x 800 + Your SAT Total = 3,200 OR HIGHERACT Scores: (Your GPA ) x 200 + (10 x ACT Comp) = 694 OR HIGHER If you apply for admission before you graduate from high school, you should compute your GPA using grades earned in "a-g" courses completed after the 9th grade. UC Personal Statement Prompts Freshman applicant prompt: Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations. 2. Prompt for all applicants Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

  7. SAT/ACT • How many times can I take the SAT/ACT? • Urban Myth vs. Actual Truth • Colleges will use your highest score for application review. • As a senior, the last month to take the SAT is December.

  8. Private Schools • Research: Your responsibility! • What to look for: • Application Deadlines • Minimum requirements (ex. SAT Subject tests required to apply for your major?) • Impacted majors. (Are you a competitive candidate?)

  9. How to apply • Private School Application • Common Application • Naviance (Common Apps only) • FERPA • Upload resume • Request Letters of Recommendation from Counselor and teacher • Request transcripts to be sent • Use it to organize deadlines

  10. CSS Profile Check if your private school requires that you complete this additional financial status application. Available through collegeboard.org. TRANSCRIPTS • Send in official transcripts when requested (check email)! • Common App schools will receive initial & mid-year transcripts automatically through counselors. • UC/CSU and non-private schools: • Students must make request through the front office by filling out the “transcript request form.” • Send in transcripts from ALL institutions. • *Separate process for BYU transcripts
