  1. Mathematics Activities on Addition and Subtraction From number 1-100

  2. Hands On Activities • Using provided learning materials as what we have mention in our set up such as; marbles, comics, abacus, coins, place value teaching materials to solve mathematical problems. Example: • Students are asked to group themselves in four. Teachers will then give them different learning materials to each group. Group 1 will give be given marbles, group 2 will be given comics and so on.

  3. Example questions: • Ali has bought 10 marbles. Ahmad has bought 27 marbles. How many marbles have Ali and Ahmad got altogether? • Sarah owns 50 sweets and Susan owns 30 sweets. How many more sweets does Susan needs to own the same amount as Sarah? • Smith wants to buy a bicycle that costs $50. He only have $45.50. How much more does he need to buy the bicycle?

  4. Minds on Activities Example of minds on activities: • _________ is 28 more than 82. • What is the difference between 78 and 22? • 100 + 45 _____

  5. ICT • Teachers can use ICT to teach addition and subtraction in the classroom or in the computer lab. • In the classroom, the teacher can make use of Mathematical software to teach addition and subtraction. • For example: Interactive Pipo Hot potatoes

  6. In the computer lab, teacher can select and introduce a good website for the students to practice and solve different questions such as in games. This can assist the students understanding better. • Some of the websites: http://www.mathcats.com/grownupcats/ideabankaddition.html http://www.emints.org/ethemes/resources/S00000422.shtml http://www.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/numberskills.html
