  3. Overview of the OSHA regulation • Preparations • All utilities shut off • Needed utilities relocated to temporary hook-up • Identify hazards & guard (glass) • Cover all floor openings not to be used 1a

  4. Stairs, Passageways, & Ladders • Close those not to be used • Maintain only those for access • Proper illumination needed 2a

  5. Chutes • No dropping of materials outside the building w/o protection (chute) • Totally enclose chutes 45 degrees & greater • End of chute guarded 2b

  6. Masonry Removal • Do not overload floors with materials from other floors or components • Totally enclose chutes 45 degrees & greater • Safe access to scaffolds & walkways required 2b

  7. Floor Removal • Provide adequate work surfaces for employees • Minimum 2X10 (undressed) planks • Openings less than 16” 3a

  8. Using Equipment for Removal • Check structure’s ability to support load • Provide curbs to prevent driving over edge • Meet all aspects of Subparts N & O 3b

  9. Storage • Debris on floors must not exceed allowable floor loads 3c

  10. Mechanical Demolition • Keep employees out of work area • Remove heavy building attachments prior to demo • Cut steel prior to pulling over • Competent person must oversee job 3d
