  3. In direct response to 9/11, Customs & Border Protection (CBP) partnered with the trade community to create a program to protect the U.S. against acts of terrorism. Intended Purpose In November 2001, Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) was launched with seven companies enrolled.

  4. Procedural Security Physical Security Personnel Security Education & Awareness Training Access Controls Manifest Procedures Information Technology Security Conveyance Security Business Partnership Requirements/Security Components

U.S. Importers of Record U.S./Canada Highway Carriers U.S./Mexico Highway Carriers Rail Carriers Sea Carriers Air Carriers U.S. Marine Port Authority/Terminal Operators U.S. Air Freight Consolidators, Ocean TPT Intermediaries & NVOCCs Mexican Manufacturers Licensed U.S. Customs Brokers Certain Invited Foreign Manufacturers Who Can Be C-TPAT Certified

  6. In the future, look for C-TPAT to grow and incorporate all types of safety, including Partners in Protection (PIP), product safety, food safety, etc. The Future
