  2. Why save Energy? Join the pod resources were great for exploring Climate Change First we discussed why we should try to save energy, we decided that it was: 1. To save the school some money 2. To help protect our planet

  3. Switch Off Fortnight • Light Monitors in every class • Traffic light system for switches and sockets • Poster Campaign to raise awareness • Split site energy challenge

  4. Cross Curricular Links • All classes got involved during the year with the project using the topic to deliver literacy, maths geography, PSHCE, science. • Held Climate week and Waste week in March/April. • Science for Schools -recycling clothing • Building work - opportunities

  5. Getting down and dirty… • Forest school projects Y3 and Y1 • Trees for Dorset project for all year groups • Allotment at local army camp

  6. No escaping the message… • Even the after school ‘Show Club’ continued the eco message with a show all about saving the planet • Great songs, strong message and the kids loved it!

  7. And now… • The TIDKIDS baton has been passed on to Year 2 • We have taken delivery of 2 Eco-Houses • Joint project with our partner school in Newton Tony, Somerset.

Useful Resources • www.jointhepod.org – games, lesson plans, background information, posters etc • Npower Climate Cops teaching pack – KS1 and KS2 packs • www.switchedon-kids.com – good for electricity at KS1 • Bitesize Golden Apple production ‘Superkids Rock’ available at www.musicroom.com • Watson meters – allow children to instantly see energy use
