Worcestershire Local Nature Partnership bid In short: WPEG bid for Local Nature Partnership status was successful Our new neighbours: Overlapping application – Cotswolds AONB – not successful Birmingham and Black Country LNP – not successful All other neighbouring county bids were accepted National context: 50 applications were received from across England: • 41 have been accepted • 9 have been held back for a decision later this year following re-submission

Five key attributes of an effective LNP (according to Defra) • A shared strategic vision and set of priorities • A broad membership with multi-sector representation • Effective and accountable governance and leadership • Engage and influence local decision makers • Effective partnership working (internally and externally)

  4. How do WPEG envisage the role of the LNP? Delivering around our existing priorities: WaterClimate ChangeBiodiversity • Current and future areas of work highlighted to Defra in our application… • Delivery of county Green Infrastructure strategy • Effective targeting of Higher Level Stewardship • Identification of landscape-scale projects (Nature Improvement Areas?) • Development of evidence base for environment-economy relationship • Delivery of Biodiversity Offsetting pilot • Total Environment work
