  2. Listening for the Thunder • In nature when we hear thunder we know it means a change of weather is coming. • There is also the “thunder” we hear in our hearts • There are distractions that will keep us from hearing our own inner thunder.

  3. Thinking about it • What are some distractions that may keep us from hearing any thunder in our lives? • What are some examples of people who “heard the thunder” in their own lives? How do you know? • Do you think YOU have heard any thunder in your life?How did it change you? How does it challenge you?

  4. Sacramental Awareness • “Sacramental awareness” is appreciation for the sacred in the world. • “Sacred” means “holy” or “set aside for God” That which is sacred points to God • You are part of God’s world • You are sacred too!

  5. Wait a minuet! • Are we saying that we can encounter God through creation? How do we do THAT? • Catholic belief is that God communicates through the people, place, actions, events and experiences that shape a person’s life,Write about a time you think God helped you through the efforts of another person.

  6. Sacramental Dullness • Not everyone sees the sacred in the world around them. • Sometimes even we fail to see God in action in our lives. • This is called “Sacramental Dullness”

  7. Writing it down • How would you define “Sacramental Awareness”? • How would you define “Sacred”? • How would you define “sacramental dullness”? • What are some things that cause sacramental dullness? • What are some cures for sacramental dullness?

  8. Taking a second look Write about a time in your life when you might have “missed” God speaking to you through nature, others or events. What can you do to be more aware of God in your life? What can T.G. do to help you become more aware of God in your life?

  9. Spirituality Action Plan • From: Handout 1-A • We often set goals for different areas of our lives. • Activities, family, friends, academics in all these area we can set specific goals. • We can do the same in our spiritual lives.

  10. Spiritual Action Plan Con’t. • Where have you been? Can you remember an early faith moment? • Where are you now? • Believer, wonderer, doubter, just not “into it” • Where do you want to be? • How can you get there?

  11. Our second concept:Grace • Grace is God’s gift of love to us and to all creation • God is everywhere “ God speaks to us in many ways”’ • Our human flesh expresses our human heart>>>>>Body Language!

  12. God’s Body Language • Because God wants to communicate with us God uses the physical world to speak to us. • We are physical, God uses the physical to communicate with us. • God’s “body language”!

  13. How we humans communicate • Our bodies express our inner thoughts and feelings. • We communicate verbally and also Non-verbally

  14. Examples from the Bible • God’s body language is seen in nature, people and events. • BIBLE SEARCH!! In your notebook *Briefly write down what happens in your selected reading * What does the story teach us about God? • How does this story challenge us?

  18. Concept C:Receiving God’sOffer Of Friendship(15-21) • Strong healthy friendships depends on honest communication • The same is true for establishing and maintaining a friendship with God • Real communication happens when messages are both sent and received.
