Scope of the Workshops Examine and discuss the impact of the AMaP project results and products • Recognising the value of skills, knowledge and experience of older workers • Changing perceptions of employers • Engaging and influencing policy on an ageing workforce • A three-level approach • Understand the value of an ageing workforce • Take advantage of the above value • Make society know the value and how it can be incorporated into it

  4. Workshop 1 Recognising the value of skills, knowledge and experience – can qualifications frameworks help? This workshop will focus on how NQF systems can benefit and support an ageing workforce. The workshop will also investigate the extent to which the benefits for society can arise from interactions among training models and the NQF systems. Moderator: Susana Oliveira, Kerigma, Portugal Questions to be discussed: • How NQF can help? • What changes need to be made in NQF taken into consideration an ageing workforce? • How can changes be incorporated? • Workshop Structure: • 45 minutes discussion • 5 minutes presentation

  5. Workshop 2 Changing perceptions of employers – what role can age management policies and practices play? This workshop will explore the importance of managements policies and awareness of age pyramids within an organisation to ensure future growth. It will consider the effectiveness of policies and the best way of introducing them, as well as considering potential barriers within organisations. Moderator: Bjorn Engsten, Folkuniversitetet, Sweden Questions to be discussed: • The importance of age management for a company? • How older workforce policies and practices support the growth of an organisation? • How can such policies and practices be introduced? • Workshop Structure: • 45 minutes discussion • 5 minutes presentation

  6. Workshop 3 Engaging and influencing policy on an ageing workforce – what are the challenges and how can they be overcome? This workshop will discuss the role of policy in changing perceptions, how those changes need to be addressed and also the main barriers preventing the changes to be introduced. It will also investigate different forms of implementing them depending on national conditions both in terms of age structure and national policies. Moderator: Graham Smith, University of Strathclyde, UK Questions to be discussed: • The main challenges on policy level? • Why although the importance is known, the changes are not happening? • How can National and EU instruments can support to overcome the obstacles? • Workshop Structure: • 45 minutes discussion • 5 minutes presentation

By the end of the Workshops: We will: Present the findings from each of the workshop at the plenary session Begin linking the findings from each of the sessions and synthesising results Develop a suggestion policy document, incorporating the findings from the workshops Present the AMaP Findings declaration to all interested stakeholders at EU and National level by the end of the project
