  1. SOLAR ENERGY CONOR DURDOCK AND CHRIS PIZZOLA

  2. Pros of using Solar Power • The first benefit of solar energy is that it is 100% renewable, completely free, and unlimited. • Solar energy is also very beneficial to the environment because it does not produce greenhouse gases or pollution

  3. Disadvantages of using Solar energy • - The materials and equipment needed to create the solar energy is highly costly. • - The demand is low in most countries making the price really high.

  4. Link to outside Website about solar energy • http://www.ases.org/

  5. Source of solar energy • The energy emitted from the suns core. • When the rays leave the sun and penetrate the PV cells (Photovoltaic) they find the energy in the light and directly converts it to electrical energy.

  6. Power of the sun • http://player.discoveryeducation.com/index.cfm?guidAssetId=065e8ef4-c3af-4bba-978c-9ad5a59f16ff

  7. Additional Information • Solar energy has existed ever since things could be warmed by solar rays. • Leonardo da Vinci made the first sketches of a welding tool powered directly by the focus of direct sunlight. • In 1767 someone directed the sun rays enough to create an oven hot enough to safely cook food.
