  2. 2008 in Retrospect • NRC licensees’ security remains effective • Completed 1st year of cycle 2 of Force-on-Force Inspections • Issued the 3rd Report to Congress on results of security inspections • Baseline inspections continue to be effective • Completed MC&A program integration into security corner stone of ROP • Completed issuance of MC&A inspection procedure and related SDP • Issued 31 generic communications • Follow-on activities related to Bulletin-07-01 (Security Officer Attentiveness) • Resident Inspector guidance issued May 9, 2008 and revised October 3, 2008 • Openness with stakeholders • No change

  3. 2009 SECURITY OVERSIGHT ACTIVITIES • Began 2nd year of cycle 2 of Force-on-Force inspections • Continue baseline inspections • Increased use of generic communications and operating experience • Revise Inspection Procedures to incorporate Part 73 rule changes • Train inspectors on Part 73 rule changes • Issued revision to Force-on-Force Inspection Procedure (71130.03)

  4. SUMMARY • Security at NRC licensed facilities remains sound • NRC security oversight is effective and stable • NRC seeks continuous improvements from events & findings • Nation must remain vigilant
