  3. ONCE • History and Mission • Founded 1938. • It´s mission is the full social integration of blind and low vision people. • Protect and oversee rights of blind and low vision people.

ONCE • Integration Activities • Integrated Education. • With 8 Schools focused on training of blind people. • With 33 educational attention teams caring for needs of blind people integrated in ordinary schools. • All stages of education are covered, from primary school to high school • Work integration. • More than 1.500 blind and low vision people working outside ONCE. • 57900 people working for ONCE, ONCE Foundation or it’s companies (35000 with disabilities) • Culture and Sports • With an important bibliographic center with more than 18000 Braille titles and 65000 text titles available. • ONCE takes part in the Olympic Games for disabled people(5th place in last games)

  5. ONCE, Corporation and Companies • ONCE Corporation • Founded 1993 to expand ONCE’s bussiness activity through management and promotion for-profit companies that help work integration of blind, low-vision people and people with any other disabilities.

ONCE, Corporation and Companies • ONCE Fundation • Foundation for cooperation between blind and other disablility groups, and social integration • Founded 1988. • Financed by ONCE, who dedicates 20% of the lottery sales income. That makes ONCE Foundation one of the most important foundations in Europe.

ONCE, Corporation and Companies • ONCE Foundation Mission • Oversee physical and technological accessibility • Social integration of people with disabilities through employment and training. • ONCE Foundation dedicates 60% of it’s Budget to his employee and training programmes and 40% to accessiblity plans. • To achieve employment creation objectives, ONCE Foundation created FUNDOSA.

ONCE, Corporation and Companies • FUNDOSA • Founded 1989. • With 147 employment centers, 12000 employees (69% with disabilities) • FUNDOSA’s main mission is to create employment opportunities for disabled people and to prove their competency and their income-generation potential. • FUNDOSA’s companies are strategic for promoting Accessibility (physical and technological) • Via Libre • Teleservicios

  9. e-Accessibility promotion in Spain • ONCE Foundation is a important pressure group and is in contact with the Spanish government to promote laws and initiatives to increase Accessibility and help for disabled people. • In response to law 51/2003 (Integration and equal opportunities law), ONCE Foundation has signed agreements with the government(Labour and Social issues Department) through IMSERSO (Migration and social services institute) to design and promote “Infoaccesibilty Programmes”. • Studies and report shows that: • More than 90% council web sites do not reach A Level • 100% Political party web sites do not reach A Level • University web sites are not accesible. • Televisions web sites do not reach A Level

  10. e-Accessibility promotion in Spain • Infoaccesibilty Programmes • InfoAccessibility plan considered as a document focused on a specific province / municipality that defines: • Accessibility needs focused on new technology services. • Targets that guarantee access for all to new technologies services. • Actions to achieve these targets. For each action: • Execution priority • Agent in charge of execution. • Cost. • Execution schedule. • Evaluation procedures. • Thanks to the agreement between ONCE Foundation and IMSERSO these programmes will be finaced between ONCE foundation and IMSERSO

  11. e-Accessibility promotion in Spain • Infoaccesibilty actions • Actions focused on increasing accessibility of new technology services: • Focused on reaching correct Accessibility level of public services’ web sites. • These actions aimed at equipping citizens with public Internet access points and other services with the adequate accessibility.

La Coruña Council • InfoAccessibility plan considered as a global tool that: • Provides information about the real status of new technology services in La Coruña. • Identifies and describes Accessibility needs. • Define, considering those needs, general and specific infoaccessibility objectives. • Devise strategies for reaching those objetives and the responsibilities of each agent involved. • Establish the actions and tasks needed to achieve these objectives, task execution order and calendar. • Help with decision making and selection of more suitable alternatives. • Provide instruments to evaluate achivement of proposed objectives.

Consists of: • Study of present state of accessibility of Information Society services in La Coruña. • Evaluation report identifiying and describing infoAccessibility needs and showing the treatment of new technology Accessibility in La Coruña. • Technical assistance and tools for access to new technologies. • Operating plan that describes actions to be executed to solve Accessibility problems highlighted in diagnosis. • Accessibility of La Coruña Web Site. • Availability and accessibility of • infrastructures of access to the Society of the Information • information services about transport and mobility • information services about health servcies, emergency.... • information services about education and training
