  1. Did You Know? • Nonantum Mills Civic Association… • Maintains the Nonantum Mills Front Entrance landscaping. Volunteers are needed to coordinate this in 2013. • Maintains the sidewalk and grass on Old Paper Mill Road next to Nonantum Mills. • Enforces Nonantum Mills deed restrictions. Nonantum Mills Maintenance Corp… • Hires private contractors to clear our roads of snow and ice. • Maintains the private open space in the community, with lawn mowing, tree maintenance and tree removal. • Maintains the Nonantum Entrance Stormwater Management pond. We perform the minor maintenance including grass-cutting, removing vegetation and trash, and keeping the inlet and outlet pipes clear. By agreeing to perform the routine maintenance, New Castle County will perform the major maintenance in the future under the NCC Stormwater Amnesty Program. This will save our homeowners a large expense in the future when major repairs are needed! • Is about to launch a new community website at NonantumMills.net and ChapelWoods.net. • Maintains an email listing of over 70 neighborhood residents to advise them of any important updates. Please provide your email if you would like to be added! Both groups are volunteer organizations made up of your neighbors. This year we are in desperate need of volunteers to continue this mission as two board members are not returning! See roles on flip side to see if you can share your talents and avoid turning these functions over to a Property Management Company. Annual dues will likely double or triple if we do not receive 4 to 5 volunteers. 2. Volunteer Today! • Small Commitment: • The boards typically meet once per month for 1 hour. • Board members can focus on one large specialty or a few smaller ones. The typical time commitment is only 2 to 4 hours per month. • You do not have to join the board to help! You can simply volunteer to be on a committee to carry out one or two specifics tasks. • Volunteers receive no monetary compensation but will benefit by keeping the annual dues 50% lower than a professional management company would. You can meet some new neighbors, refine your skills, and have a voice in your community!
