EffectsObserved: BASE • BASE is a searchenginelookingdaytodayat OAI-PMH repositoriesforalmost 10 years • DINI Repositoriesarebetterthanothers • More robust protocolimpl., less XML errors, morefull-texts & homogenous DC, DCC etc. (> browsing) • EUROPEAN repositoriesgrowingwith a ratherhighqualitystandard, several national networkswereborn

  5. Future • DINI Certficate 2010 andDRIVER Guidelines v2.0 fullycompatible • DRIVER Guidelinesaddress also compoundobjects (modelsandprotocols) • DINI explicityintroducingusagestatisticsandcitationanalysis • DRIVER tobeadoptedforimplementationof European Open Access mandate (OpenAIRE)

Conclusion • Both DINI-Certicicateand DRIVER-Guidelinesarepracticalratherthan „sexy“ • Both do not createtheperfectworld but theyprovideorientationfornewandexisting OARs • Not everybodyis registered/certified but manylookatthespecificationsandimplementaspects • Clear qualityimprovements observable but maineffectisthatof a chimnee
