  3. Definition of Child Sexual Assault • "Contacts or interactions between a child and an adult when the child is being used for sexual stimulation of the perpetrator or another person when the perpetrator or another person is in a position of power or control over the victim."

  4. Types of Sexual Offenses • Touching sexual offenses include: • Fondling; • Making a child touch an adult’s sexual organs; and • Penetrating a child’s vagina or anus no matter how slight with a penis or any object that doesn’t have a valid medical purpose. • Non-touching sexual offenses include: • Engaging in indecent exposure or exhibitionism; • Exposing children to pornographic material; • Deliberately exposing a child to the act of sexual intercourse; and • Masturbating in front of a child. • Sexual exploitation can include: • Engaging a child or soliciting a child for the purposes of prostitution; and • Using a child to film, photograph or model pornography.

Facts • One in three girls; one in seven boys • 23% of perpetrators are under 18 • 90% of victims know their perpetrator • Most perpetrators “groom” their victims • 95% of sex offenders are pedophiles • In one year, 43,000 sex offenders are released from prison • Approximately 3.3% are rearrested within three years
