  2. Homework What were your overall thoughts on the article? Does anyone have any experience with the Accelerated Reader Program? What comprehension strategies did you find yourself using? Was it hard to think about your way of thinking? How can this assignment help us as teachers?

  3. Scavenger Hunt • Each group will receive one clue to start. • As a group, you must “decipher” the clue and find the remaining three clues. • When you have all four pieces, meet back in the room. • * Be sure you take the piece that • matches your group’s color.

  4. Strategies What comprehension strategies are you familiar with? How do you assess comprehension/How were you assessed on comprehension in school? To the Wiki...

Strategy Conferences • With a partner, choose one person to be the teacher and one to be the student. • We will give each partnership a slip of paper that describes a reading deficit that the student needs to work on and some books. • Conduct a mock strategy conference. Get into it! • If you have time, switch roles and try a different approach.
