  2. PD Mapping in UG HV Cables -3rd Year Ph.D • 3. PD Mapping • -Online & Continuous Cond. Monitoring • Detection & Location 1.Instrumentation - RPDAQ 2. Digital Sig. Proc. -Wavelet Analysis -Higher Order Statistics Introduction

  3. Fig 1: RPDAQ controlled with Laptop Summary of Presentation Contents • RPDAQ Operations • Flow Chart & Description • Results from preliminary tests

  4. Inputs Protection Circuit Switch Control Data Logger Signal Conditioning Control Acquisition Storage Flow Chart of RPDAQ • Inputs – CT’s on site • Data logger –Line Current • Switch – Phase R,Y,B • Sig. Cond. – Noise reduction + PD enhancement • Control – Remote Comms. Link

  5. Preliminary Results 1 • Multiple cycle acq. • Form of continuous monitoring of discharge activities. • Amplitude, Phase, Repetition rates.

  6. Preliminary Results 2 • High Sampling rates used (50MS/s) • Used for detection and location purposes. • Useful in TDR and Frequency analysis.

  7. Updates & Conclusion • RPDAQ is 100% complete, facility for robust PD data acquisition available. • Real field data from first field trial produced some useful findings. • Currently, awaiting for data retrieval • Upon completion, we expect to have Technique can be extended to other HV equipment.

  8. Q & A Session All Comments Welcomed
