Complaint handling - mediation • 1,000 tenancy complaints per year • Fair Trading staff contact both parties • Attempt to mediate satisfactory outcome • 93% resolved by Fair Trading • Both parties understand rights & obligations • Outcome acceptable to both parties • 7% referred to the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal

Tenants advocacy • Funding for tenancy information and advocacy • $8.86 million each year • 26 funded services • 4 specialist Aboriginal services • Last year, TAAP provided assistance for • 35,000 clients • Advocacy for 6,000 people • Provided referrals for 12,500 clients • Represented 5,300 people at CTTT hearings
