  1. Game Plan Dillon McTier

  2. Set Goals • I would like to learn how to use power points to help students learn in the class room. • Determine the type of portfolio that best meets your current goals. Whether you are demonstrating mastery of required competencies, documenting your own personal and professional development, or entering the teaching field at the beginning of your career, there are many examples to support your specific purposes. • What do I want to know or be able to do? • What do I already know about the topic? • How will I know I have been successful?

  3. Take Action • I found that you can set up power points with timers and use voice recorders and then put the voice on the power point. This can be effective in the class room. Instead of having to teach the same information to many classes, I can record the information on a power point correctly the first time so every class will have the right information and nothing will be left out. • Find examples of employment, assessment, and professional development portfolios. Ask your friends or teachers if they have examples. • What information do I need to reach my goal? • What learning strategy will I use? • What resources are needed?

  4. Monitor • I believe I have gained knowledge for my learning strategy. I found examples on you tube to help me make a great power point. I am also taking pre-calculus and my teacher post video power points with all the notes she has writing from previous classes. To me the is very effective. • Are you finding examples of each type? Which examples best match your goal? Do you need to locate additional examples before you create a portfolio for your own use? • Am I finding the information I need • What patterns are emerging from the information sources • Do I need to modify my action plan

  5. Evaluate and Extend • I will demonstrate my learning by building power points for all my classes that record all the information students need ,and then post it on a website so they can go and review it at home if they need help. • Classify the examples that you find as assessment, employment, professional development, or "other" portfolios. What are some distinguishing characteristics of each type? What characteristics or strategies do you think you might adopt or adapt for your own use? Discuss your conclusions with your peers to determine how you might generate a portfolio to meet your goal. • Have I met my learning goals • If not, should I modify my goals or my learning strategies • What will I do differently in the future

  6. Reflection For Class • What course goals did this activity meet? What ISTE standards did it meet? • What did you learn when your shared your presentation with your team? • What new things did you learn from your team members
