  1. Informatization of managment services for smart cities with support of cloud computing dr. Jernej Tonejc, dr. Marko Boben, dr. Jure Pražnikar University of Primorska, Andrej Marušič Institute

  2. Smart cities www.smart-cities.eu • Smart city concept: platform approach of informatization of real infrastructure and city services with the aim of sustainable management of social and environmental capital • Smart cities characteristics

  3. UP IAM orientation • Development of technologyskills: • Cloud computing • Big Data treatmentand analytics • Internet of Things – IoT • StrategicPartnerships: • Muncipalities (Koper, Maribor) • Public services (utilities, Nigrad) • Luka Koper, Northern Adriatic ports • high-tech companies, associations (Abelium, Xlab, Arctur, Eurocloud) • research institutions (UL, IMFM, Chinese Academy of Sciences) • International integration (Adriatic region, China) • Multidisciplinary approach : • Mathematics, complex networks and complex dynamic systems • Computers • Public Health and Economy • Environmental protection

  4. UP IAM smart services • Smart people: • NAUK - system for e-learning in the cloud (P5) • Survey system at IDO Primorska (Improvement of working environment) • Smart mobility: • Optimization modulefordistribution (P6) • Optimization of plowing forwinter service • Project TISAR – optimal useof multimodal passenger transport • Smart environment: • Mobile application - Interactive map of pollution (P7) • Mobile application – Meteorological alert (P7) • Mobile application – Environmental alert (P7) • Mobile application – Carbon footprint (P7) • Project SAFEPORT – sensor andsimulation system forair and water pollution control • Smart living: • Web application for modelling of health care processes – clinical pathways (P7) • CIIS – system forcapturingextraordinary events

  5. Smart People - NAUK - system for e-learning in the cloud • Cloud platform formaking dynamiclearningmaterials • It is based on the edu.Plexorplatform • Principle of Wikipediaforpreparationof materials • Integrationwith Moodle system • Possibleexportin standard formats (SCORM, Common Cartridge …) • Presentedalsoon thebiggestChinese cloud computingconference 2013 in cooperationwithChinesecompany Bingosoft

  6. Smart People - Survey system at IDO Primorske (Improvement of working environment) • Improvement of working environmentin the Coast and the Karst region • A survey carried out on a few hundred employees in various companies • Project addressed five areas: • stress at the workplace, • absenteeism from the workplace, • unwanted fluctuation in the workplace, • burnout in the workplace, • reconciliation of work and family life. • The survey conducted on the with the help of specially developed cloudmobile applications and survey system

  7. Smart mobility - Optimization module (P6) • Development of optimization modulefor distribution problem fromthe mainwarehouse: • Norders have to be deliveredtoM locations withthe help of K vehicleswith limitedcapacity • We want to calculate the shortest total distance • Cloud webservice • Optimization problem is givenby JSON description • After the calculation the result isobtained in JSON (distribution of loads on vehicles) • Visualization using Google Earth and KML (Google Maps)

  8. Smart mobility - Optimization of plowing for winter service • UP IAM incooperation with UP Faculty of Management, Nigrad and Abelium • The system for monitoring, analytics and decision support in the management of winter maintenance • Integration of GPS sensors and mobiledevicesforcommunication. • Cloud oriented system • In 2013 it will be experimentally introduced into the working processes in Maribor (Nigrad)

  9. Smart mobility - Project TISAR • TISAR - Traveller Information System for the Adriatic Region • Project in the initial phase • Promote multi-modal passenger mobility in the Adriatic region through the transfer of information relating to transport by various means of transport (sea, air, rail and urban transport) • Development of innovative services for the transport of car sharing and demand responsive transport are planned

  10. Smart environment - Mobile application - Interactive map of pollution (P7) Interactive map that is a part of mobile application contains placemarks of measuring stations, from which data on measurements of various environmental parameters (ozone, PM10 particles, temperature ...) are acquired. Excessive levels of individual parameters may affect human health, therefore, the application also shows warnings that take into account the legally prescribed limits.

  11. Smart environment - Mobile application - Meteorological alarm (P7) For the current location, which is obtained from the GPS sensors of mobile device, the mobile device can display any alerts on precipitation in the vicinity to provide timely information to the user in case of environmental risk. Alerts contain indication of the severity of the alert and the distance and direction of movement of precipitation.

  12. Smart environment - Mobile application - Environmental alert (P7) • Mobile application enables review of the status of monitoring stations that detect potential oil spills at sea. The measurements are refreshed according to time interval set by the user. For a more effective action in the case of spill wind speed and direction are added to the application.

  13. Smart environment - Mobile application – Carbon footprint (P7) Location aware mobile application that simulates usage of carbon dioxide according to means of transport and the path traveled by the user at the time of use of the application.

  14. Smart environment - Project SAFEPORT - sensor and simulation system for air and water pollution control • Installation of meteorological and water sensors • Model for dispersion of air particles(CALMET + CALLPUFF) • GIS system • Wind simulationsover the landfill of bulk cargoes • Database of sensor data • Web services for accessto weatherdata and calculations

  15. Smart living - Web application for modelling of health care processes – clinical pathways (P7) • Tools for BPM in the cloud adjusted for working in health care processes (Activiti) • Mobile application • Analytics (performance indicators - Pentaho)

  16. Smart living – CIIS –system for capturing extraordinary events • Process orientedcloudsolution • Implemented incooperation withPort of Koper • Partial data capture from the field through a mobile application

  17. ERSCP 2014 – Sustainable Smart City • Organization: Universityof Primorska, Nigrad d.d. • Specialsection on smartcities: Sustainable Smart City • Welcome!
