  5. LE ORIGINI DEL NOME EUROPA: Europa, era una giovane e bellissima principessa, figlia del re Agenore e di Telefassasorella quindi di Cadmo, che viveva in Fenicia. Un giorno Zeus, dall'alto del Cielo, notò la bella principessa insieme alle sue ancelle sulla riva del mare, dove Europa amava bagnarsi e cogliere fiori. Zeus si innamorò subito di lei e per non intimorire le fanciulle assunse la forma di un toro bianco mettendosi a pascolare l'erba del prato. Le fanciulle, vedendolo calmo, lo presero ad accarezzarlo, addirittura Europa gli salì in groppa. Allora il toro spiccò un balzo e cominciò una lunga corsa, Europa era talmente spaventata che non aveva più voce per gridare, si teneva aggrappata forte al toro che dopo ore e ore di cammino arrivò nell'isola di Creta dove finalmente si tramutò in Zeus. Zeus dichiarò il suo amore ad Europa e fece scendere daICielo le Ore, sue ancelle, e l'unione fu subito celebrata. Da Europa nacquero: Minosse, Radamanto e Sarpedonte.
