WG8 #7 Meeting Lake Tahoe June 2001 Convenors Report • Producing Standards Relevant to Industry • SC24 history of Co-operative Agreements continued with WG8 SEDRIS • Updates on OGC, DGIWG and IHO • JTC1 currently debating a Workshop mode of operation • On 60 day ballot in preparation for proposal to JTC1 Plenary 2001 • Existing Cat C Liaisons • SISO Working well. Attendance at meetings and comments on WDs • OGC For closer links, data dictionaries suggested as a joint work item • Support from Doug O’Brien • Spomsored project approach favoured by Cliff Kottmen

Convenors Report • Proposed Cat C Liaisons • DGIWG Parent body for FACC (Feature Attribute and Coding Catalogue) • Ray Staggemeier taken over from Herman Dohmann as TC Chair • DGIWG SC meeting end of May aware of liaison request • DGIWG Chair and Secretary to discuss on 7 June • IHO International Hydrographical Office • IHB Directors asked to support liaison proposal on 20 April • No reply, so Tony Pharaoh sent a reminder on 5 June • WMO World Meteorological Office • Intend to establish a liaison

  3. Convenors Report • EDCS, SRM and SEDRIS WDs • EDCS WD5 now released. To be reviwed at #8 Palm Springs • SRM WD5 generated in between EDCS. Reviewed at Lake Tahoe • SEDRIS WD4 intended for Palm Springs, but had to be deferred • Appreciation to the Editors for producing WDs under such tight schedules • COMMENT • Focus of attention has been on EDCS and SRM as; • Fundamental to the definition of SEDRIS • Interest extends beyond the Modelling and Simulation community • Large number of Working Drafts reflects the drive to establish clear and unambiguous standards
