  1. Math Message • Math Journal – Rip out Activity Sheet 5 and 6 2. Cut out the fraction cards

  2. Write the missing numerator or denominator in order to name the fractional part of the card that is shaded Example 2/6

  3. Find the card with 1 out of 2 parts shaded and the card with 2 out of 4 parts shaded • The fraction on the back ½ and 2/4 are not the same, but the same amount is shaded on each of these cards • So ½ and 2/4 are names for the same fraction ½ = 2/4

  4. Find all the other cards that are half-shaded • 3/6 • 4/8 • 5/10 • 6/12

  6. Sort the remaining cards into groups that have the same amount shaded • Record the fractions in each of these groups on the appropriate lines in the Equivalent Names for Fractions Table (Pages 342-343) 3. Math Box 7.6 (page 200)

  7. Play “Fraction Math” SRB page 243 iSRB
