  2. Purpose • What information is needed to develop an achievable action plan for coordinated school health? • What information is needed to accurately evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of a coordinated school health action plan?

  3. School Improvement Planning What are our collective experiences? What is our familiarity with the process? How do we see SIP relating to our efforts in the Healthy School Leadership Program?

  4. Data Sources • Healthy Youth Survey • School Health Index • Healthy Schools Report Card • Others? Lots!

Healthy Schools Report Card • Eleven Characteristics • Eight components, plus: • Policy and strategic planning • Coordination • Environment broken into 2 subsets—social and emotional climate and school facilities and transportation • Approximately 40 Indicators across the Eleven Characteristics

  6. HSRC—Tools for data collection • Develop agreement regarding indicators • Indictor rubrics • Quality • Impact • Effort • Excel spreadsheet for data input • Color coded summary report to help prioritize actions.

  7. Other data collection and Analysis • Achievement data • Demographic data • Perception data • Context data

  8. Data Collection Steps • Action planning for data • Collection—snapshots, trends, etc • Narrative descriptions of data • Characterizing the narratives • Prioritizing the narratives • Building a profile
