  1. KISTI & Belle experiment Eunil Won Korea University On behalf of the Belle Collaboration

  2. KEKB : the highest luminosity in the world Located in Tsukuba, Japan Belle detector 3.5 GeV e+8.0 GeV e- e+e-(4S) withbg= 0.425 22 mrad crossing angle Lpeak = (1.581034)/cm2/sec  > 1M BB pairs/day integrated L = 467 /fb _

  3. R&Ds in KU - MC production • MC production in Belle done on remote sites • Diskless clusters (PXE boot) assembled by us (\700,000/box) Network: Router: Layer 2/3 supports My lab-KOREN–TEIN2-CERN CPU: 10 P4 + 10 Woodcrest O(10)x2 clients via PXE in KU O(1) TB raids UPS for 10 minutes PostgreSQL server

  4. R&Ds in KU - MC production Shown at Nov. General Collaboration Meeting in KEK Comments from KEK >500M from remote institutes (twice more than KEK) (e.g.) Korea with only 10 PCs Vienna with 14 PCs, Lausanne with 15 PCs

  5. Super B factory – in preparation It is a proposed upgrade for higher luminosity B production (L ~ 8x1035 cm-1s-1) • Experimental environment • Trigger rate : > 10 kHz • Data size : ~ 300 kB/event • Readout : ~ 50 k channels Not far from LHC environment !!!  Fully pipelined readout is required

  6. Super B factory – Trigger Upgrade Triggers/readout become computing for next generation experiments… COPPER : 9U VME for pipelined readout Generic PMC ADC/TDC • Radisys-6315 : Intel PIII CPU 800 MHz w/ PMC • Running linux OS • Event formatting • Data sparcification  We need ~ O(1000) ! ADC/TDC Generic PMC ADC/TDC CPU PMC • KU did: • Writing device driver for trigger PMC • Writing unpacker for TDC • Dynamic IP allocation (via vme_addr) ADC/TDC

  7. Belle Grid Deployment by KEK • Belle did not participate grid community from the beginning • But we joined since last two years • Gridification of Belle lib. was done and under serious tests • LCG/EGEE - Working with the computing center we created CA and have applied for Belle VO - We have installed LCG 2.7 at KEK and Nagoya is co-operating.

  8. LCG-nodes CE LCG-nodes CE SE SE NFS NFS WNs WNs Status of Belle Grid Deployment • Goal: Establish “Belle VO” on the World LCG Infrastructure • Utilize data on remote sites (No need to put back processed MC) • Build framework to produce skims for new modes • Connect with current KEK B system to open the “data” to remote users securely • What we’ve done • Install Belle library and data base in the Grid:gLite 3.0 2 KEK sites + AGSC(Taiwan) • Process gsim sample • Compile and test User_ana -> Now we can do everything about basf through grid job at test level • To do and discuss • Stabilize for heavy use • Participate in MC production • Handle raw data: Collect new skim proposal? • How to connect to current KEK B system to open for remote users Now on test Melbourne U. Krakow Nagoya U. World LCG ASGC/NCU @TW UI KEK 2TB BSF Library 197 CPU 62 CPU

  9. What I would like to ask KISTI? For MC production • A server for running PostgreSQL (root privilege) • A server for Belle library holder (root privilege) • O(100) computing (PXE bootable) clients • Storage : O(10) TB Grid on Belle • Human resources – someone knowledgeable on LCG and middle ware • O(100) computing boxes??

  10. Initial Discussion w/ KEK to eunil@hep.korea.ac.kr   cc nkzw@post.kek.jp   date Feb 22, 2007 11:09 AM   subject Re: Belle Grid question   Hi Eunil san,According to Nakazawa-san, who is now mainly working on Belle Grid,he can take care of the technical things such as installation of Bellelibrary or submitting the jobs. But, I think we have to ask you to do some communication with KEK experts(and maybe with KISTI people), especially on organization (or maybeI can say politics) issue. For example, to participate in Belle Grid, KISTI must be includedin Belle VO (virtual organization). So, you might need to makean application to KEK computer center.Of course, Nakazawa-san and I can help you, but since we are(or at least I am) not experts on Grid, we might not be so quick.

  11. What I would like to ask KISTI? Kreonet(2) to KU • Connection to KU, down to Physics Department, (Room 425) • This might be OK with KOREN only?

  12. What I would like to ask KISTI? Will this be possible???
