Agenda June 2013 • Review of minutes & Schlumberger’s presentation from New Orleans 2013. • Acquired a new NAF sample for round robin testing. • Spacer developed by Drilling Specialties and confirmed by Chevron for the NAF sample. • Investigated both Metal & Glass coupons. • Ship NAF & Spacer for round robin testing.

  3. WG on Evaluation of NAF Removal and Water Wetting by SpacersMeeting MinutesJan 22nd, 2013 • Minutes: • Deryck called the meeting to order at 4:00 PM. The progress of the workgroup was reviewed with discussion around the following: • The capabilities of the labs to perform testing has improved and is sufficient to proceed with round robin testing • A new sample of the fluid will be collected for a testing program • Issues associated with coupons were discussed. • Can get metal coupons from chandler • Details on the glass coupons will be resent to the group • Glass coupons can be sourced from Optical Instrument Lab Inc, Houston • Designs of coupon holders were reviewed • Quentin Barrel – Schlumberger, Clarmart presented some preliminary results • Tested OBM and Spacers at 55⁰C and 150⁰C • Investigated 4 different treatments for preparing the coupon • Do nothing • Use paper towel • Use fresh water • Use deionized water • Found that the treatment with a paper towel gave favorable results • Investigated both Glass and Steal Coupons • Found that Glass coupons could be favorable because of its hydrophilic properties • The cool down temperature was discussed. There may be a need to bring the test cell all the way to ambient before removing the coupon from the cell. • Chevron will ship a sample OBM from the field and Spacer for round robin testing. • Grafton Montgomery - OFITE volunteered to participate in the WG. • The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 PM.
