  2. Location Bristol is situated in the south west of England as shown in the picture. Is separated from Wales by the Bristol channel which is spanned by two bridges.

  3. History During the 17th and 18th century, Bristol was a major slave trading port and the industrial revolution brought more prosperity. In the late 18th and 19th century Bristol saw the construction of a floating harbour, advances in shipbuilding and growth of glass, paper, soap, and chemical industries. In the 20th century Bristol was at the forefront of aircraft manufacture

More information on Bristol • In 1542 Bristol became a city and Atlantic trade developed rapidly. • In the civil war the city was taken by Royalist troops before being re-captured by Parliament. • The Clifton Suspension bridge was built 147 years ago in 1864 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, one of the most famous engineers to have lived. • Brunel also went on to build the S.S Great Britain and the Great Western Railway • The Bloodhound SSC, is being built in Bristol, it is an attempt by manufacturer Shelby Super Cars to break the land speed record by a car

Sport in Bristol • There are loads of sports activities that you can attend in Bristol, whether it’s Rugby, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Hockey or many more, you can be assured that there is something for you. • There are two senior football teams in Bristol along with one Rugby team and one Cricket team. • All the venues used for these teams are very good. Bristol Rugby and Bristol Rovers share a ground called the Memorial Stadium, Bristol City have Ashton Gate and Gloucestershire CCC have the county ground. • These stadiums are all accessible and a privilege to everyone.
