  3. WELCOME I expect GREATNESS from you. No matter who you are, where you come from, or what you might do…I expect GREATNESS from you! Thank you for letting me be part of your journey!

  4. Classroom Rules 1. Respect yourself, school property, and others. 2. Come prepared w/ a pen or pencil. 3. Keep comments on task and positive. • Use electronics with teacher permission. 5. TRY.

  5. “What will I be doing this year?” • Working in Groups • (YES, they will be assigned by me) • Creating a Team (Ensemble) • Writing Scripts • Playing Improvisation/Acting Games • Performing Scenes • Reading Plays • Memorizing Lines • Learning Theatre Vocabulary • Learning the Parts of the Theatre (i.e. Types of stages, etc.) • Expressing Yourself and Using your Creativity

  6. Procedures help us run our classroom so that we are ALL successful! Classroom Procedures: HOW do we do it?! SMOOTH SAILING!

  7. Types of Procedures • Entering the Classroom • Attention • Restroom • Water • Getting Help • Supplies • Class Jobs • Turning in Work • Interactive Notebooks • Exiting the Classroom

  8. ENTERING CLASS • Greet the teacher and student usher at the door w/ a handshake. Please do not enter the room until you have been greeted. • Get your notebook and sit in your ASSIGNED seat. • Begin working on the warm-up immediately! It will be on the screen. 4. When the bell rings, there’s no talking for 3—5 minutes while you finish your warm-up. +

Asking for Help/Restroom/Water • HELP- OR *Use SIGN during warm ups or desk work • RESTROOM- -Not during the first or last 10 min. of class -Not during formal class performances • WATER- -Not during the first or last 10 min. of class -Not during games, scenes, or performances If given permission, I must sign your agenda, then you may take one of the passes by the door.

  10. ATTENTION • Time Out *If I make this sign, stop what you are doing and make the sign too 2. FOCUS—Your response is “Thank You” in unison followed by silence. *This is a circular dialogue used in professional theatre.

CHAMPS: Look at the front of the room! • Desk Work vs. Group Work vs. Audience Etiquette • DESK WORK: • Working Individually at your assigned seat • No talking • Use the help card • May use restroom, get water, or get a fresh pencil • GROUP WORK: • Working on a project in a group • You may talk with your group members only • Use the help card or raise you hand (if you are not at a desk) • May use restroom, get water, or get a fresh pencil • AUDIENCE ETIQUETTE: • See your CHAMPS notes on Audience etiquette • Group Game, Scene Game, or Class Performance

  13. ABRACADABRA: Table Transition Magic Students at tables 1—4, REMAIN SEATED. Students at tables 5 & 6 follow these directions: • Pass your chairs forward; the student in seat one will stack the chairs. • Seat 1, place the chairs against filing cabinet wall. • Seats 2—6 take your belongings to the front of the classroom. • Students in seats 3 & 6 fold the tables and place along the back/bookshelf wall.

  14. CLASS JOBS This is YOUR class, you should help run it. Jobs are rotated each week between students. • USHER • Welcomes Students to Class • Passes out/Collects Papers as Needed • STAGE MANAGER • Demonstrates Activities w/ Mrs. Hadzi • Can call for time out or FOCUS • Sharpens Pencils at the End of Class • HOUSE MANAGER • Answers the Phone • Oversees Class Clean Up • Dismisses the Class

  15. EXITING CLASS • Will stop 5 minutes before the bell. The House Manager will lead you in CLEAN UP • EVERYONE cleans, even if it’s not their trash • Be seated in your assigned seat when the bell rings, and WAIT for the House Manager to dismiss you.

  16. How will I be graded? • Projects, Performances, and tests (at LEAST 2 a 6 weeks) 50% • Daily Grades 20% • Journals 20% • Audience Etiquette 10% • Rubrics are always provided.
