WRC-12: Agenda Item 1.24 to consider the existing allocation to the meteorological-satellite service in the band 7 750‑7 850 MHz with a view to extending this allocation to the band 7 850–7 900 MHz, limited to non-geostationary meteorological satellites in the space-to-Earth direction, in accordance with Resolution 672 (WRC‑07) Provision of extra bandwidth to accommodate the transmission of significantly larger amounts of data from next-generation Meteorological Satellites, anticipated to be launched in the 2017-2020 timeframe.

  3. WRC-12: Agenda Item 1.24 Single method in the CPM report to satisfy this AI was supported by all regional groups going into WRC-12. Current MetSat allocation has been shared with FS for some years without interference.

  4. WRC-12: Agenda Item 1.24 Outcome 50 MHz extension to the current 7750-7850 MHz allocation for the MetSat service, resulting in a new allocation of 7750-7900 MHz for non-geostationary meteorological satellites in the space-to-Earth direction. Result is fully in line with Australia’s position and the APT Common Proposal to WRC-12. Australia should note the associated changes to the Radio Regulations. No immediate specific impact. No actions required.
