China’s Economy • China is one of the earliest centers of human civilization • Before 19th century, China was always the largest economy in the world • GDP: $2.279 trillion (the 4th largest economy in the world) • GDP (PPP): $8.158 trillion (the second largest economy) • GDP - per capita (PPP): $6,300 • Economic Miracle: The real average annual GDP growth rate is 9.6% in the past 25 years. • In 2005, the real GDP growth rate is 9.9%. In 1st quarter of 2006, the growth rate is 10.2% • Foreign Reserves: by the end of Feb. 2006, $853.7 billion (No.1 in the world)
