  4. The Coaches… • Kyle Thomas • Wife: Leslie • Sons: Cole and Garrett • Coached for 9 years • LOVES the Gophers • Still plays hockey twice a week! • Works at Phillips Plastics

  5. The Coaches… • Mike Williams • Wife: Dawn • Daughters: Jade and Bailey • Built his own motorcycle! • Drives for the USPS • Coached for 2 years.

  8. The Calendar All calendars are available as a hard copy, email attachment, or online at www.nryha.net . This is the FINAL word on ice time for the team. All activities are OPTIONAL for families. All questions about the calendar can be directed at Mandi.

  9. Communication • Emailis the primary form of communication. • You will receive a weekly ‘update’ that will include information for the next 1-2 weeks. • Email Updates will be printed and posted on the ‘Mites’ bulletin board space. • If you are not receiving emails (like the reminder email sent Saturday afternoon) be sure to sign-up on the contact list before leaving tonight. • If you do not have email, please connect with someone on the team who will serve as your contact person. You can also read updates on the bulletin board at the rink.

  10. Apparel Jerseys • Practice Jerseys- colors are assigned by coaches to help facilitate smooth transitions on the ice. These will be distributed by the coaches in two weeks at practice. • Game Jerseys- everyone should have a white game jersey with their child’s name and chosen number on the back. If you have not screened your name/number onto a jersey, you can see the Treadmill in Somerset. Refer to the list before selecting your number so we avoid duplicate numbers as much as possible.

  11. Fan Apparel • NRHS Clothing from National Honor Society • Items available for order or to take home if you visit the NRHS office. Youth sizes available at all elementary buildings soon! • Treadmill • Pro Shop

  12. Jamborees Somerset Baldwin New Richmond Amery River Falls • Typically we play two games. • Games are usually one hour long. • Teams will be announced by coaches the week before. • Children will all go home with a medal or trophy!

  13. Bowling Date: 2/7/09 Location: Gibby’s Lanes Time: 5 PM Cost: $3.50/Game • Lanes will be assigned. • Cost includes one game and shoe rental. • You may elect to bowl additional games.

In House Mites: Levels 1, 2, 3 • Level 1: (Yellow) • 0-1 year of experience • Learn to play hockey/Beginners • 2 hours of practice a week. • Emphasis on ½ sheet practices. • Focus on skating and introduction to fundamentals. • Home Jamboree + 4 Away Jamborees • In-House Scrimmages with Level 2 skaters. • Level 2: (Orange) • 1-3 years of experience • Intermediate • 2 hours of practice a week • Emphasis on ½ sheet practices. • Focus on skating and fundamentals. • Home Jamboree + 4 Away Jamborees • In-House Scrimmages with Level 1 skaters.

In House Mites: Level 1, 2, 3, continued… • Level 3: (Black) • 2-4 years of experience • Preparing for Squirt Level Competition • 2-3 Hours of Practice a week. • Emphasis on Full-Ice • Focus on fundamentals and rules of the game. • 5 Jamborees + Possible Mite Tournament at the end of the season. • Team Scrimmages versus Local In-House and Mite teams

  16. What’s the difference between practice teams and jamboree teams? Practice Teams Jamboree Teams • Based on both experience and ability level- so coaches can differentiate practice plans. Emphasis at practice will differ according to ability level. • Level 1 (Yellow Jerseys) • Level 2 (Orange Jerseys) • Level 3 (Black Jerseys) • Mixed ability teams will take 3-4 players from each Level to compete in three evenly matched teams at jamborees. • Team #1 (Don and Mike) • Team #2 (Hans and Kyle) • Team #3 (Larry and Jeff)

  17. Team ‘Mom’ • Each Jamboree Team will have one contact person also known as the Team ‘Mom’ • This is, like all association positions at our level, is volunteer. Because it is not an association created position, you may or may not receive work hours for your duties. Be forewarned. • So many people ask ‘what can I do to help you’? I thought this would be a great way to empower more adult-leadership and get folks involved who just want to help out! • They will be responsible for: • Confirming that communication is smooth and thorough • Collecting: forms, $, etc. from their team (such as team photo cd’s) • Distributing: Jerseys, Tickets, Fan Gear! • Coordinating one team dinner ‘Hosted’ by your jamboree team. • Being sure to submit photos/memories on behalf of the team to Mandi for final banquet film/slideshow.

  18. Showcase Skating!! Girl’s Varsity Hockey game on 1/09/09 Boy’s Varsity Hockey game on 2/7/09 • We will skate between the 1st and 2nd periods before the zamboni cleans the ice. There will be two ½ ice games going on at once. • After the game, we will meet the players in the locker room for an autograph signing. 

  19. The Gophers!!! Gophers vs. Michigan Tech. Sunday November 16th 5:30 Arrival 14 skaters Tickets $32 Standing Room Only- but we can ‘fill-in’ and try to sit in general admission.

  20. MN Gopher Game Procedure… • All interested families must sign up and pay Mandi before Wednesday 10/15. Mandi will be at the rink Wednesday night from 6 – 7 pm to collect checks made out to Mandi Erickson for $32/ticket. • From the list of ‘commited’ skaters, the coaches will create a final roster of 14 skaters. • Skaters who are not on the roster will be given a refund , unless they would still like to attend the game.

  21. The WILD! Minnesota WILD Vs. Dallas Stars Wednesday November 26, 2008 7:00pm Skaters Tickets $31.00

The WILD Procedure… • Any interested families must sign up and pay Mandi by 7pm Wednesday night. • Coaches will take the list of paid skaters and create a final 16 person roster. • Anyone not on the roster will be given a refund if requested. • Extra tickets will be available for skaters on the roster to purchase for extended family. There will be a cap depending on tickets available. • Extra tickets will be sold to Squirt C families with the goal of including as many current members of the association as possible.

  23. The WILD Part II The Wild Vs. Detroit Red Wings Saturday January 3rd, 2008 Tickets $31.00 With the showcase skating, we need to decide if we would like to ‘hold’ these tickets for our team.

  24. The Banquet Sunday 3/1/08 5-7pm R and D Catering • Awards! • Door Prizes for kids! • Gratitude gifts for parents! • Turn in practice jerseys. • Fill out evaluations. • This is separate from the NRYHA banquet which is later on. You are encouraged to attend both.
