  21. PARCC Calculator Policy 2014 - 2015 • The calculator policy for next school year will be the same as it was for this year (Section 2.9 of the TCM/TAM). • Grades 6-7: four function calculators with square root and percentage • Grade 8: scientific calculators (Primarily PBT issue) • HS: graphing calculators (e.g., TI-84)

  22. PARCC Calculator Policy - 2014 - 2015 • Students will not be able to use calculators allowed outside of their grade band (e.g., grade 8 cannot use graphing calculator). • Students will be able to use a hand-held calculator, if preferred, for the Computer Based Test (CBT). This particular policy will be revisited in the 2015-2016 school year.

  23. PARCC Field Testing - Spring 2014 • Comments or Lessons Learned from the field?

  24. SATP3 & MCT3 (PARCC) Assessment Transition Plan

  25. Assessment Transition Plan • Students will transition to the new SATP3 PARCC tests in the same way they have previously transitioned from SATP to SATP2 assessments. For example, students who begin testing on an SATP2 exam will continue with that assessment in retests • To graduate, students must achieve a passing score on the SATP2 or SATP3 assessments listed in BOLD and underlinedon the subsequent slides • Students will take the new SATP3 (PARCC) assessments based upon the first year they enroll in the course for credit, including students with disabilities who are not pursuing a standard diploma • CBT vs. PBT Cost Implications (use DTC Webinar agenda for notes)

  26. PARCC Assessment Implementation Timeline

  27. Timeline for Other Assessments

  28. SATP2 Paper/Pencil to Online Transition Plans (Does Not Apply to SATP1 or SATP3)

  29. OptionalPARCC Assessments Optional PARCC Assessments (not required for graduation or Accountability)

  34. Graduation Assessment Options www.mde.k12.ms.us/3804

  35. Graduation Assessment Options Purpose • Review approved options for students to meet the existing SATP graduation assessment requirements • Revisions to the existing high school graduation requirements are twofold: 1) to affirm the importance of other existing academic measures which indicate a student’s readiness for entry into college or the work force 2) to maintain a rigorous standard for students to meet in order to earn a high school diploma

  36. Graduation Assessment Options • FAQ Document can be found on OSA SharePointand www.mde.k12.ms.us/3804 • After failing to pass any SATP exam twice, a student may demonstrate graduation readiness through successful completion of one of the approved options

  37. Approved Graduation Assessment Options (Policy 3804)

  38. Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Assessment Transition Plan www.mde.k12.ms.us/dlm

  39. Assessment Transition Plan for SCD Students • All SCD students will transition to the new DLM test in grades 3-8 at one time in 2014-2015. • In the high school years students with a significant cognitive disability(SCD) have to test one time prior to exiting high school in math, ELA & Science. • To minimize the time lapse between the last middle school assessment (grade 8 or peer age of 13) and the current high school assessment (grade 12 or peer age 18) for the growth calculation, it is required that students move to the following schedule: • Grade 9 – DLM Mathematics • Grade 10- DLM English Language Arts • Grade 11- MAAECF Science
