  3. Debate • 10 mins on specific policy statement. • Parliamentary procedure please.

Lobbying • To try to persuade a politician, the government or an official group that a particular thing should or should not happen, or that a law should be changed (Cambridge). • The first day of THIMUN 9:00 – 17:00 • Informal but complex process which can begin now!   5. Purposes • Important part of diplomacy. • Will appear daunting and chaotic. • Negotiation and consensus building. • You need to be involved in order to get your views heard. • Establish good relations with like minded delegations. • Link with economic or regional interest groups. • Develop draft resolutions.

  6. Ethics. • Interests of international community are better served by a more open and honest approach. • Openness and honesty are also more likely to lead to the adoption of a draft resolution.

  7. Resolutions • Share and provide feedback on resolutions • For next meeting (9th Jan) bring draft resolution, as close to finalised as you can be. • Have a restful Christmas.
