  3. missions:1 where many people were given food on donations from businesses in the areas affected during the Great Depression. EXAMPLE SENTENCE: Bud sees a sign hanging over the mission that shows a rich, white family in a car that says THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE AMERICA TODAY (6.32). 

  4. homeless:2 a term used for a person who has no residence in which to live; usually living on the street or in a car EXAMPLE SENTENCE: Bud became homeless when he ran away from the Amos family.

  5. Clarence:3 The nickname a man used for Buddy when he was in the food line. EXAMPLE SENTENCE: “It took you long enough to catch on, Clarence.” p.51 Synonym: Bud

  6. the real McCoy:4 original; not fake EXAMPLE SENTENCE: “…but they were the real McCoy, solid steel.”

Read the definition, taking turns with your partner. • 5. Open a Word Document. Save as “Vocabulary Definitions” • 6. Copy and past the word and the context~definition on a Word Document. • 7. Do this for words 6-30. • 8. What you don’t get done becomes homework. • 9. Email me your Word Document, “Vocabulary Definitions.”
