  2. Lambaste • Lambaste – verb – attack usually with words, or criticize harshly. • The mother lambasted her child at the baseball game because he didn’t know how to behave himself.

  3. impasse • Impasse – noun – A situation in which no progress is possible, because of disagreement. • After Michael was proving guilty for violating his probation, Judge Abrams extended his probation because he felt that the situation was at an impasse.

  4. jargon • Jargon – noun – slang. • As Reba was texting her mother she happened to us the text jargon “lol” meaning laugh out loud and her mother didn’t understand.

  5. deter • Deter – verb – Prevent or block. • While little baby Sabrina stood in her crib she almost fell but the cribs arm deterred her from falling.
