  2. What is Virus Management? Virus management is the act of protecting and organizing a system or network against an attack from malicious software. From a personal scale this could simply be installing an anti-virus. On an organizational level this can be an on going battle against all the threats that can be sent a companies way.

  3. Where is Virus management used? As explained on the previous slide it can be used by a single person in there home with a stand-a-lone PC connected to the internet, or any organization with I.T facilities.Virus management is generally used wherever a PC or internet capable device is being used.

  4. Why is it used? Virus management is used for one simple reason.To protect information and the devices the information is stored on. Without virus management in place, any data stored on a device could be lost, stolen or even used maliciously – Such as ID fraud.

  5. Benefits to Virus management. With virus management in place a person or company can feel safe knowing that:-The system is free/protected from any malicious software.-There information is not being destroyed or used for malicious purposes.-A system can protect itself for periods of time without specialist intervention.

  6. Disadvantages to virus management. In reality there are no disadvantages to virus management, due to what it does! Virus management simply is a required element for most if not all computer systems.The only disadvantage which does not concern the protection of a system, is the cost.Anti Virus software and other programs / people that fall under the Virus management topic, can be quite expensive.

  7. Example of Virus Management. An example of Virus management would be a company having a strong antivirus to remove any malicious software that has found its way onto there machines.They would also employ policies and training on the subject of 3rd party devices/media in work such as USB flash memory or a mobile phone and how they could potentially infect the system.
