  5. Traction elevators • Advantages: • Fast • Quiet • Smooth ride • High rise application • Disadvantages: • machine room required • Higher cost • Support structure

  6. Hydraulic elevators • Advantages: • High loads • No machine room • Dimension optimized • Low cost • Disadvantages: • Slow and noisy • Hot oil odor • Poor riding quality • Environmentally unsafe
