  1. Welcome back! I trust you had a relaxing weekend. *We will begin the first 20 minutes of class by writing reflections in our journals. Here are some writing prompts: How did you spend your weekend? What are you looking forward to during this coming week at TESOL? What are three goals that you have for the week?

  4. Icebreaker: Numbers Game • (Think-Pair-Share) • Begin by writing down three numbers which have significance in your life • Participants break into pairs and share numbers, explaining why each number is significant. • Groups of participants share responses with larger group. • Highlight commonalities between each group – this helps to build a learning community.

  6. “I’m a little tea pot” • Example: Action Song -“I’m a little tea pot” I’m a little teapot short and stout. Here is my handle and here is my spout. When I get all steamed up, hear me shout! Tip me over and pour me out.

  7. “The Itsy-Bitsy Spider” • Example: Action Song -“Itsy-Bitsy Spider” The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout. Down came the rain and washed the spider out. Out came the sun and dried up all the rain and the itsy-bitsy spider went up the spout again.

  12. Action Story #1 - • Title: A Rabbit’s Beauty • Written by Amy, Jasmine, and Jun • Story: The rabbit gets up in the morning. She goes to a pond in the forest for washing her face. And she sees herself through the water. Oh, my god! I’m so fat! She starts to lose her weight. She just drinks a bottle of water! And run & run & run! Drinking water! And run & run & run. Finally, she makes perfect S-line! And a handsome rabbit guy proposed to her!

  13. Action Story #2 • Title: hatching of egg • Written by Colleen, Jimmy, and Anna • Story: I am a round and round egg. The room is so narrow, stuffy and hot. The room is getting hotter and hotter. I want to see the world. The egg starts to crack slowly and slowly. Suddenly someone hit my egg by accident. At that times my eggs is broken entirely. I find out someone next to me. “We are twins!”

  14. Action Story #3 • Title: I’m a busy tic-toc • Written by Esther and Jessica • Story:I’m a tic-toc, tic-toc, tic-toc. My owner Erik! Wake up now. It’s 7 o’clock. Erik hit my head (ouch,ouch) The belly button calls Erik. It’s time to have lunch at 12 o’clock’. Ding dong, Ding dong. Jerry calls Erik “Let’s play soccer.” It’s time to play at 4 o’clock. Erik, Erik! Mom says “take a shower.” it’s time to take a shower at 6 o’clock. I’m a busy tic-toc, tic-toc.

  15. Action Story #4 • Title: A fresh, big egg • Written by Sunny, Leena, Carrie • Story: I’m a fresh and big egg. I’m broken in half by my chef. I’m jumped into the hot pan. The pan is getting hotter, hotter, and hotter. I’m finally well done. I’m set on the dish. The big mouth of a kid is closer, closer, and closer. Stop!!

  16. Action Story #5 • Title: A pop corn’s life • Written by Violet, Julia, Jack • Story: A farmer plants a grain of corn in the field. He waters it everyday. It stars to grow higher and wider. It bears fruits. The farmer harvests and dries them. He puts the corn on the pan with oil. The corn gets hotter and hotter and hotter. And….Pops up! Pop! Pop! Pop! Now you can eat them up!
