  2. MISSION STATEMENT To get recognition from Town Council that Lake Lisgar is a community asset (Jewel) that is deteriorating and needs revitalization and remediary actions.

  4. THE ISSUES Silting upstream and at the river mouth creates slower moving and warmer water. • This leads to: • More weeds and algae • Less oxygen in the water • Shallower lakebed • Restricted recreational uses • Deterioration of the Town’s image • A significant issue for Council down the road

  5. REVITALIZATION Phase 1 • Control weed growth at north end • Improve water quality and flow • Reduce sediment flow into lake • Improve recreational opportunities Phase 2 • T.B.D.- Based upon prioritized input from service organizations/ committee

REVITALIZATION PROJECT OBJECTIVES PHASE I Lake Lisgar Revitalization Committee Actions • Dredge and make serviceable the two existing sedimentation ponds on private propertyalong Cranberry Road • Dig a new sediment pond closer to the lake • Tap the expertise of LPRCA and MNR for other improvements related to water quality and flow

  7. REVITALIZATION PROJECT OBJECTIVES PHASE I Lake Lisgar Revitalization Committee Actions • To re-introduce trout to lake • To provide prioritized committee input into Community Parks, Recreation and Cultural Strategic Master Plan ESTIMATED COST $ 20,000 PAID BY COMMITTEE FUND RAISING EFFORTS

REVITALIZATION PROJECT OBJECTIVES PHASE I Tillsonburg Town Council Actions • To officially recognize the Lake Lisgar Revitalization Committee • To pass a Resolution of Support in Principle for the Lake Lisgar Revitalization Project • To identify Lake Lisgar as a “Jewel” in the Town of Tillsonburg and recognized as such in the Community Parks, Recreation and Cultural Strategic Master Plan

  9. REVITALIZATION PROJECT OBJECTIVES PHASE I Tillsonburg Town Council Actions • To direct capital and operating funds to maintain the health of the lake • That the aeration system installed in the Renaissance Project and decommissioned 4 years ago be put back into regular service

  10. NEXT STEPS • Create a planning and action committeewith the involvement of other Tillsonburg service clubs (Completed Sept.16, 2011) • Dredge the 2 settling ponds by Cranberry Road • Create a Lake Lisgar Revitalization Trust with Town of Tillsonburg • Consult with MNR/LPRCA for other potential improvements to the lake
