  4. technology - telecommunications Rapid grown the telecommunications data means data can be transmitted rapidly on globally such as the Internet. In the last 50 years these have become commonplace Computers + Mobile Phones The Internet +Satellites + TVs+ Credit cards

  5. change - work Rapid change in telecommunications and computing has caused changing employment patterns. Information processing is no longer manual but done by computer not people.

  6. change - homeworking More and more people work from home using the internet but still there is a need to communicate and share information in person.

  8. ethics • Knowledge economics result from technology. This is where a lot of people are confident users of ICT but this is not everybody – some are information excluded. • There is a lot of waste. • Knowledge about us is information that could be misused….

  9. ethics - waste & poverty Computers require electricity….Is this good for the environment? Mankind is over dependent upon computers….. Some people who live in rural parts Africa might never have seen a computer. Even if they could afford to buy one, they might not have the electricity to run one or the training in how to use one or the ability to speak English – which is the predominant language.

  10. ethics – digital divide The Digital Divide – the information excluded Even in UK those who cannot afford a computer can fall behind others who use computers on a regular basic because they do not have relevant software skills and practice. For instance their children do not get IT skills and cannot use the Internet to research homework. They are known as information excluded.

  11. ethics – global divide India economy is booming when it comes to ICT BUT WHY are call centres placed in places in the world where labour is cheap

  12. ethics - individual freedom ? People worry as things change Knowledge about us is power and we will lose our individual freedom: Identity cards! Are we being watched cameras are everywhere? Is our information Safe?
