  2. PBL TOPIC & LEARNING GOAL • Topic : APPRECIATE THE VALUE OF WATER • (WISE CONSUMPTION) • Learning Goal : Student should be able to appreciate the value of water for daily consumption. • Student should be able to consume water wisely.

  3. LEARNING OBJECTIVE • At the end of the lesson, students should be able to… • Collect data on the important usage of water • Identify the cause and effect of the unwise water consumption • Produce printed and oral advertisement • Present the data collected in a form of an exhibition

  4. BRIEF DESCRIPTION • The students observed their friends' habit of wasting water when they washed their hands. The students would normally let the water flow as they talked to their friends.For this project, within two months, students from SMK Dato Onn and SMK Datuk Menteri are to conduct a study on the cause and effect of unwise water consumption and present it in an exhibition “Save the Water.”

THE STUDENTS • Participating Students: • School SMK Dato Onn & School SMK Datuk Menteri (60 students each) • Grade Level : Form 4 students • Subject Knowledge : English, Science & Maths • Level of English Proficiency : Mix ability • ICT Skills : Mix ability (Basic knowledge on Microsoft Office)

  6. Students Group Strategies • Group into 12 groups (5 students each) • Groups responsibility refer table Action Plan • Mix ability in English skills and ICT skills • Students’ ability will be analyzed first – help teacher to decide whether extra training is needed (e.g: Drop Box)

  8. ICT COLLABORATION • Learning Objective : Produce printed and oral advertisement • Step 3 : Promotion (Promotion Team) • ICT Used : • Creating Advertisement: Drop Box, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Page Maker, MS Publisher, Movie Maker, Story Board. • Advertise: Facebook, MSN Messenger, Mobile, Blog.

  9. ICT COLLABORATION • SHARING FILES • Email (Basic) : sharing files • Drop Box: share files with other students easily • Saves time – email to each members • Any form of documents can be placed in the box

  10. ICT COLLABORATION • EDITING IMAGE • Paint (Basic) : image editing • Adobe Photoshop : image editing software • Most students familiar with this software • Easy to edit image and add text to the image

ICT COLLABORATION CREATING ADVERTISEMENT (PRINTED) • Adobe Page Maker / MS Publisher : editing, creating & printing high quality publications such as brochures, newsletter, poster • Most students familiar with this software • Students can add picture edited from Adobe Photoshop • Easy to create as it offers templates that students can edit from

  12. ICT COLLABORATION CREATING ADVERTISEMENT (VIDEO) • Video Maker / Photo Story: Video Editing Maker • Easy to use as it offers help button for students to refer to • Students can add photos that has been edited • Video will make the advertisement interesting

REFLECTION • On the first day we were a bit confused and blured with PBL course. • As time goes by, we learned a lot more as it gives a new set of challengers not only for the students but also the teacher(s). • Our main goal for the students is that they need to experience a new kind of learning process, such that they will make use of it in the future.
