CARE 4 SEVAN Plans and Proposed Solutions

This master plan aims to raise the water level, manage industrial waste, revitalize wetlands, increase public awareness, and implement sewage treatment plants for major towns around Lake Sevan. Proposed solutions include scalable sewer system designs and building guidelines, as well as the introduction of modern waste disposal methods. Funding will be secured from private sponsors, government agencies, and other institutions.

  1. CARE 4 SEVAN Plans and Proposed Solutions

  2. Master Plan for Sevan Since early 90s, Armenian Government has been working to prepare a master plan with the help of international organizations Major objectives of the master plan: Raising the water level Regulating and managing industrial waste Revitalizing the wetlands Increase public awareness Sewage treatment plants for 4 major towns around Lake Sevan (Sevan, Gavar, Martuni, Vardenis)

  3. Recent Model In March 2008, the Civil Engineering Committee launched a project to provide proper sewer system designs and building guidelines for small villages in Armenia and Artsakh AESA provided plans that can be scaled up or down to accommodate each village according to its size, population, and topography

  4. Tzitzernavank Project Plans were implemented for a 50 person school in Tzitzernavank in a village in Artsakh The design converts the sewer black water to grey water before it is disposed into the ground Contaminants in the outflow water of thesewer need to be brought down to comply with current standards in Armenia

  5. Typical Sewage Disposal Design

  6. Future Plans • AESA initially will select a few villages, provide plans, and help implement proper sewer disposal systems tailored to their specific needs • AESA will target villages in the Lake Sevan area to increase public awareness and help protect the environment • AESA will introduce local villages to modern methods of sewer and waste disposal systems, such as the waterless toilets and sewer treatment options

  7. Funding • Initial funds will be used for a detailed case study and generating proposals for grants • Funds will be secured from private sponsors, government agencies, and other institutions to implement the project on select villages • The success of the initial project will lead to more support and implementation on a larger scale
