  2. The CIRCUS Consortium is a working group funded by the EC’s Esprit programme. Circus brings together artists, designers, performers, theorists and computer scientists to debate the research issues posed by the next generation of advanced information technology for the creative and performing arts, media and the electronic publishing industry. It brings together partner institutions in the UK, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal and Spain. Circus advises the ECon the integration of content and technology in terms of creative pull vs technology push CIRCUS aims to gain a fuller understanding of the relationships between content, medium and technology in user contexts ranging from data creators to data users, from entertainment through education to fundamental research. Some of the specific objectives of the CIRCUS working group were To address issues of Data Capture, Data Management and Data Delivery within creative production contexts To develop models of applications and theoretical research based on creative production practice To influence the development of future research projects, relevant standards, and experimental productions in the media industries. Helsinki), first metadata working group + recommendations (see next slide) • Ars Electronica, Linz 9.9.1999 (CUIDAD/CIRCUS) “MuTaTeD I, Metadata for Music Content”(Carola Boehm) • Dublin 21.10.99 - “The Metadata Bear, bearing the weight of accessibility”, metadata from content to context.
