Definition • Package of services is a complex of social, medical, psychological, rehabilitation, educational, legal, economic and other activities aiming at one target group that lives under difficult living conditions, is affected by certain risk and experience the need in help to improve their life and risk prevention. Presentation 11

  3. Types of packages • Minimum • Basic • Expanded • Those definitions were developed in Ukraine to make distinction between BCC programmes. Presentation 11

  4. Minimum • Outreach work • Professional Counseling • IEC • Individual prevention supplies (syringes and condoms) Presentation 11

  5. Basic • Minimum package of service + • Professional counseling (more than one) • NGO-based VCT • Referrals to treatment (OST, rehabilitation) • Self-help groups • Supervision/case management Presentation 11

  6. Expanded • Basic package of services + • Providing social every day/domestic and economical needs (community centre) • Resocialization • Employment assistance Presentation 11

  7. Continuum of Care • Provision of non-stop support to a client at all stages of the service: from outreach work to resocialization. Presentation 11

  8. Service Chain of Care Continuum • Low Threshold services - street work,first aid (wound management), peer to peer • High Threshold services are provided by doctors, psychologists, lawyers, social workers. • Resocialization – going out of services for IDUs to services for everyone.
