  3. Species of Hexapoda • Wasps • Butterflies • Praying Mantis • Scorpion Flies • Twisted winged parasites • All of these species share common characteristics like 6 legs divided into 3 sections of the body, The head, thorax, and abdomen.

  4. SPECIAL adaptations • Insects have adapted to communicate in different ways, most hexapoda have antennas that they use to sense movement and communicate with other Hexapoda • Other insects, such as beetles, that do not have antennas have adapted to communicate by flapping and rubbing their wings together. • A lot of insects have developed wings which help to avoid predators and discover new habitats. • Insect larva eat different food then adult insects, because they need different nutrients to mature.

  6. Habitat • Insects are found virtually everywhere in the world except marine areas, some have even been known to live in freshwater regions.

  8. Fun Facts • Hexapoda is Greek for 6 legs. • There are more than 900,000 species of Hexapoda. • Insects have been present for about 350 million years. • Insects don’t have noses. • The blood of insects is generally yellow.
