  4. Who are we? Dedicated women from all levels in community, junior and technical colleges who are passionate about and committed to equity and excellence in education and employment for women.

  7. What we do? We value and promote • Women in Leadership • Equity and Economic Independence • Service At All Levels We advocate for and sponsor • Higher Education Attainment • Professional Dev. For Career Progression & Achievement • Diversity of Ideas and Culture • National Issues Affecting Women in Community Colleges

  8. How do we accomplish our mission? • Recognize excellence through awards • Create skills development opportunities through chapter sponsored conferences and workshops • Support local and/or national organizations that impact issues affecting women, e.g. Race for the Cure and Go Red Day

  9. How do we accomplish our mission? • Offer an annual doctoral program scholarship for women interested in pursuing a doctoral degree • Offer annual regional scholarships to students • Leadership development through the annual LEADERS Institute that supports advancement of women into leadership positions.

  10. Why form a chapter? • Professional Development -Activities at national, regional, state, and local levels. College chapters, state sections, regional and national conferences. • Networking – Make contacts and build relationships with community college women throughout the nation.

  11. Why form a chapter? • Publications - Publications highlighting the association’s activities and timely articles on important women’s issues. An annual publication with research on community college studies and personal accounts pertaining to the community college agenda.

Why form a chapter? • Advocacy on national issues Welfare, wellness, workforce, equity, and other current national concerns affecting community colleges. • AAWCC Web site Current information on activities, announcements, job opportunities, and important national issues. http://www.aawccnatl.org/

Why form a chapter? • Leadership training opportunities - Contact the National Institute for Leadership Development via web site link, email, phone, fax, and mail. • Council of AACC - Recommendations for and reports on issues pertaining to higher education in general and community colleges specifically.

  14. Why form a chapter? • And more…Exert influence over local issues for women Receive financial assistance for chapter projects from the national board Strengthen communication across the campus, independent of organizational lines and charts Get involved
