  3. Quote Identification • Speaker – 1 mark • Situation – 1 mark • Significance – 2 marks

  4. Significance • Why is the quote important? • it reveals a theme in the work • it reveals something about the character who is speaking or who is being spoken about • it shows plot advancement • it is a particularly good use of a literary device -it demonstrates the use of a symbol in the work

  5. Short Answer Questions • Identify and provide the proper definition of the term used in the following lines of poetry: (2 Marks)   “And I will love thee still, my dear, Till all of the seas run dry.” • Define Expressionism. Discuss the elements of The Glass Menagerie that make it an expressionistic play. (4 Marks) 

  6. Essay Questions • Examine how the protagonists in Glass Menagerie and To Kill a Mockingbird are held down or raised by their parental binds. • Examine the loss of innocence of two main characters in Glass Menagerie or To Kill a Mockingbird

  7. Studying for Essay Type Tests and Exams • Read through the notes taken in class • Make study notes of anything you feel is significant and anything the teacher any have emphasized in class • Use the charts on the web site to list information about characters, themes and plot.

  8. How to do Well on Tests and Exams Before the exam: • Be prepared; know the material well and get plenty of rest before the exam begins.

How to do Well on Tests and Exams In the examination room: • Arrive early for the exam and come properly equipped with enough pens and/or pencils so that, if one pen runs out of ink or a pencil breaks, you will have a spare. • Don't talk about the exam to other students just before it; anxiety is contagious.
