  1. DfE Advice: Preventing and Tackling Bullying, up-dated 22nd August 2013 DfE Definition • Bullying is behaviour by an individual or group, repeated over time, that intentionally hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally.

  2. bullying is the repetitive, intentional hurting of one person or group by another person or group, where the relationship involves an imbalance of power. Bullying can be physical, verbal or psychological. It can happen face to face or through cyberspace

  3. Cyber-bullying is a new way to do old forms of bullying such as name-calling, racism, homophobia, sexism etc • Cyber-bullying is a new form of bullying.

  5. Prevention – technical and the social: cross –curriculum education! • Reporting – Encouraging reporting, staff need confidence. • Resolution – To know the chain of harm is broken! • Education: The Internet is a life skill

  6. Children and young people occupy multiple communities. • Contact point – adult, peer, real-world, digital world • Peer groups – the most protective factor. • Relationships
