2. Evaporation • Process where water at the surface turns into water vapor. • Absorbs heat energy from the sun and turns into vapor. • Water bodies like ocean ,lakes and rivers are main sources of evaporation Lake Ocean River

3. Condensation • As water vaporizes into water vapor, it rises up in the atmosphere. • High altitudes the water vapor changes into very tiny particles of ice/ water droplets. • Particles come close together and for clouds and fog in the sky.

4. Sublimation • Process where ice directly convert into water vapors without converting into liquid water. • Phenomenon happens when the temperatures are low or pressure is high. • Main source of water sublimation are the ice sheets of the North and the South Pole and the ice caps on mountains.

5. Precipitation • Clouds then pour down as precipitation due to wind or temperature change. • Occurs because the water droplets combine to make bigger droplets • Air cannot hold any more water, it precipitates. Rain

6. Transpiration • As water precipitates, some of it is absorbed by the soil • Process similar to evaporation where liquid water is turned into water vapor by the plants.

7. Runoff • Process where water runs over the surface of the earth. • Runofff combine to form channels and then rivers and ends up into lakes, seas and oceans.

8. Infiltration • Some of the water that precipitates does not runoff into the rivers and is absorbed by the plants or gets evaporated. • It moves deep into the soil.
